Keith Owen Roettger was born on December 3, 1938 in a farmhouse in Celina, Ohio. He was the middle child of Freda and Owen Roettger with an older sister, Janet and a younger sister, Karen. They moved from Celina when Keith was 13 years old to Walled Lake, Michigan. He enlisted in the Air Force at age 17 and was based in Texas and traveled to Japan. Upon his return, he lived in Rochester and Pontiac where he started his family. He worked at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital for thirty plus years as Director of Employee Relations handling contract issues and negotiations for the hospital and union members. He enjoyed his job immensely. This was where he met Irene on the transport bus for off-site parking to the hospital. They have been married for 42 years, living in Clarkston, Michigan until moving to Atlanta in 1999. Keith was Secretary at the FOE 4077 for ten years and worked at First Choice Real Estate for many years. He loved to spend time with his family and friends and play euchre. He liked to hunt (spend time in the woods), golf, fish, and spend time in his barn fussing with all his treasures. He loved his annual trip to Las Vegas and went on houseboat trips with friends to several locations. He liked going up north (upper peninsula) for camping trips and later enjoyed winters in Florida. Keith had been in ailing health for the last few years and died peacefully on Wednesday, January 18, 2023 at Munson Otsego Memorial Hospital. His battle is over. He will be forever missed by Irene and his family.
Keith was predeceased by his parents, his sisters and many aunts, uncles, and cousins from Ohio, as well as many close friends.
Keith is survived by his wife Irene, two sons; Jeff and Greg, stepchildren; Julie Blaylock (Randy), Cheryl Pappas (Andy), and John Kidd, a cousin in Ohio, several grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He had many friends who he always enjoyed having a beverage with.
