Kay Karla Righi

Mrs. Kay Karla (Dinsen) Righi, 80 of Lewiston, Michigan died peacefully at Munson Healthcare Crawford Continuing Care Center on March 12, 2025 in Grayling, Michigan surrounded by her family. She was born to the late, Lyman and Helen (Augst) Dinsen in Manistee, Michigan on January 24, 1945. At the age of 26, she married her husband, John Righi and together they celebrated 53 years of marriage. A longtime resident of Lewiston, Kay dedicated her life to early childhood development, teaching first grade for 21 years and later volunteering an additional 10 years in local elementary school reading programs. She was a member of Lewiston Community Church, formerly known as the Congregational United Church of Christ, and a past member of the Lewiston Lioness Club. Kay loved gardening and the beauty of nature. She always enjoyed learning and in later years became an avid birder, going on multiple birding trips across the country. She is and will be deeply missed.

Kay is remembered by her loving husband, John Righi; daughter, Andrea Righi; brother, Jack (Becky) Dinsen; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and their extended families. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lyman and Helen Dinsen.

The family has chosen to remember Kay privately at this time. There will be a memorial service held in celebration of her life on Saturday, May 17, 2025 at the Lewiston Community Church. The memorial will be from 10:00 – 11:30 am, followed by a service at 11:30 with luncheon after. In lieu of flowers, donations in Kay’s memory are suggested to the Montmorency County Library, Lewiston Branch, (2851 Kneeland, PO Box 148, Lewiston 49756) to assist with children’s reading materials and activities, or to the Lewiston Community Church.
