Kaete Helene LaPorte (Hoerath) Mrs. Kaete Helene LaPorte (Hoerath) passed away on August 9, 2015 to be with the Lord and her beloved husband, Elmer. She was born to Martha and Georg Hoerath on August 27, 1921 in Plauen, Germany. In 1957 she came to the United States to be with her aunt and uncle Frieda and Robert Heine, who owned and operated Heine's Landing in Hillman, Michigan. In 1960 she married Elmer LaPorte and in 1964 they purchased and operated Heine's Landing until their retirement in 1985. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Hillman, as well as the VFW Post and other organizations in the area. She was a very caring and loving person who helped everyone and she will be missed by all. She is survived in Germany by one sister-in-law and one nephew; as well as one sister-in-law and brother-in-law and several nieces, grandnieces, nephews, and grandnephews here. She had a very caring neighbor and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Martha and Georg Hoerath and her husband, Elmer who died in December of 1998. As were her wishes, cremation has taken place and there are no services scheduled for Mrs. LaPorte. In lieu of flowers, memorials have been suggested to St. John's Lutheran Church or Hospice of Michigan, Alpena.
She is survived in Germany by one sister-in-law and one nephew; as well as one sister-in-law and brother-in-law and several nieces, grandnieces, nephews, and grandnephews here.
