June Shirley O'Neil June Shirley O'Neil, 86, of Atlanta, MI, passed away on January 8, 2017 at Otsego Memorial Hospital. She was born on June 16, 1929 to Earl and Mildred (MacLean) Carten in Detroit, MI. She married John "Jack" O'Neil on February 15, 1947 in Detroit, MI. June has lived in Atlanta for the past seven years formerly of Haines City, FL and Port Huron, MI. June was a member of the Loud Township Ladies Auxiliary. While in Haines City, she enjoyed participating in skits and heading up bake sales at Oak Harbor Campground, where she was known for instructing people, "You will bake," for the sales. During her younger years, she always supported her husband and his fire department brothers in Port Huron. She also enjoyed playing the organ and was always up for a game of bocce ball. She enjoyed arts and crafts, especially making ceramics. Above all else, June will be missed by her family and friends. June is survived by her daughter, Connie (Barry) Danks of Atlanta, MI; daughter-in-law, Sandy O'Neil of Port Huron, MI; grandchildren, John (Lori), Kristen (Darren), and Brandon (Kimberly); great-grandchildren, Nathan, Emily, Destiny, Sophia, Madison, Zachary, and Audrey; and a brother, Earl (Miriam) Carten of Costa Rica. She was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Mildred; husband Jack, and a son, John O'Neil. As were her wishes cremation has taken place and there will be a memorial service for Mrs. O'Neil on January 21, 2017 at the Loud Township Hall, Atlanta, MI at 1:00 p.m., Pastor Ginny Titus officiating. Interment will take place at a later date at Lakeside Cemetery in Port Huron.
