Joyce Ann Hoppe Joyce Ann Hoppe, of Vassar, MI, passed away October 24, 2007 after a prolonged illness. Joyce A. Calcut was born to Fred and Eva (Arbuckle) Calcut on March 5, 1936 in Alpena. She was baptized at Greely Baptist Church and confirmed at St. Matthews Church. Joyce married Harry Hoppe on Jan. 28, 1956 in Alpena where they lived for ten years before moving to Saginaw and eventually to Vassar, where they raised their children. After 23 years, Joyce retired from Saginaw Steering Gear and moved to Lewiston and then to Elberta, settling back in Vassar in 2005. Joyce enjoyed reading, knitting, crocheting, sending e-mails to her friends and family and baking. She is survived by her husband, Harry Hoppe; daughter, Mary (Mark) LaFever of Vassar; son, Jerry (Debbie) Hoppe of Vassar; grandchildren, Amy (Tim) Bickel of Reese, Jenny Donnelly of Vassar, Tricia Donnelly of Vassar, Darcy LaFever of Vassar and Mark LaFever of Vassar; great-grandchildren, Calista Bickel of Reese and Kayla Pratt of Vassar; one sister, Emily Edmonds of Alpena; and several nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews. Preceding Joyce in death were her parents, Fred and Eva Calcut; a daughter, Beth Hoppe; grandson, Jerry Michael Hoppe; brothers, Clifford, Fred, Lloyd and Howard Calcut; and a sister, Tina Margaret Calcut. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at a future date. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials in Joyce's name to the National Parkinson's Foundation.
