Mr. John Frank Weber, 97 of Atlanta, Michigan died peacefully at his home surrounded by the love of his family on the morning of September 14, 2022. He was born in Atlanta, Michigan on March 1, 1925 to the late, Frank and Hazel (Kelly) Weber. He married his wife, Catherine (Wiley) Weber in Nowra, Australia on March 16, 1946 and together the couple celebrated 53 years of marriage before her passing in 2000. John was a proud veteran of the United States Navy and served during World War II. He was a founding member of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Atlanta and a member of the VFW. John was the former Editor and Publisher of the Montmorency Tribune until 1977 when he and his wife, Catherine retired. He was a pilot and enjoyed flying. He loved going in the car for rides, fly fishing, hunting, and time spent out at his hunting camp. Most importantly, he enjoyed spending time with his family. He is and will be deeply missed.
He is survived by his children, John (Marian) Weber of Atlanta; Judith (Dennis) Grenkowicz of Atlanta; grandchildren, David Tibbets, Jennifer Towne, Sarah Wellman, Anna (Travis) Gregg; great-grandchildren, Maddock Wang, Asher Gregg, Catherine Wellman, Elise Gregg, and Bryce Wellman; and his beloved nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Hazel Weber; wife, Catherine; sister, Patricia Towne; and great-grandson, Otto Wang.
Funeral services for Mr. Weber will take place at 1:00 PM on Saturday, October 1, 2022 at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church. Interment will follow services at Briley Township Cemetery where John will be laid to rest. In lieu of flowers donations are suggested to St. Mark's Episcopal Church, 11847 M-33, Atlanta, Michigan 49709. A celebration of life will take place at his hunting camp this November.
