John W. Edgar John William Edgar, 87, of Hillman, MI passed away on Friday, June 8, 2007 at his residence. He was born on June 1, 1920 to Hohn and Tillie (Wolter) Edgar in Montmorency Twp. He married Esther Emma Cordes in 1948 at St. Johns Lutheran Church. John spent most of his life in Montmorency Twp, he taught school for a year at Green School before being called to serve in the US Army during WWII. He was wounded in the Battle of the Bulge and after recovery, returned to Michigan where he worked for Fisher Body for 10 yrs. In 1958 he and his family returned to Montmorency Twp, where he farmed for many years. He was a member of St. Johns Lutheran Church and the VFW Post 2356 in Hillman, MI. He enjoyed playing cards, woodworking, crafts, hunting, fishing, and gardening. He loved to spend time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. John is survived by his wife Esther; son, Ron Edgar; grandsons, John (Mindy) and Thomas (Danielle); 2 great grandchildren, Tatum and Gavin, all of Hillman, MI; three sisters, Marie Scheske, and Rose Cordes of Hillman, MI, and Dorris Krueger of Hawks, MI. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Herb, Claude, Harry, Bob, Jim, and Flloyd; and a sister, Sarah Vogt. Funeral services for Mr Edgar will be held on Tuesday, June 12, 2007 at 11:00 AM at St Johns Lutheran Church, Pastor Jason Mandley officiating. Visitation hours will be held on Monday from 2-8 p.m. at the church. Memorials have been suggested to the S. Johns Lutheran Church Organ Fund.
