Joan Harwood Joan Harwood, 87, of Atlanta, Michigan, died on Friday, March 24, 2017 at Medilodge of Hillman. She was born on January 23, 1930 to Eric and Margaret (Jones) Heinbokel in Wyandotte, Michigan. She married Everett Harwood on December 8, 1947 in Atlanta, Michigan. Joan has lived in Atlanta since 1970 formerly of the Detroit area. She had worked at Hudson's Downtown for 14 years, and then worked as a foster grandmother for the Kindergarten at Atlanta Community Schools for 20 years. She was know as "Grandma Harwood" to hundreds of kids in Atlanta. She was a member of Big Rock Congregational Church. Joan enjoyed bowling on leagues when she was younger. She also enjoy to crochet and was an avid reader. Her cat "Penny" always had a special place in her heart. Joan is survived by her sons, Craig "Randy" (Annetta) Harwood of Tempe, AZ, and E. Scott Harwood of Atlanta; daughters, Linda (Steven) Uchwal of Atlanta, and Laurie Watch of Ironwood, MI; 7 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandson; and a sister, Lois Cumper of Atlanta. She was preceded in death by her husband, Everett, and a brother, Don Heinbokel. As were her wishes, cremation has taken place, Mrs Harwood's remains will be interred at Loud Township Cemetery on June 17, 2017.
