Jessie Cohoon

Jessie Cohoon Jessie Cohoon, 87, of Alpena, formerly of Hillman, MI, passed away on Thursday, September 07, 2006 at her residence. She was born on August 5, 1919 in Barron, WI to John and Lydia (Gowin) Gallaty. She married Carl Cohoon on January 3, 1940 in Detroit, MI. She lived in Washington and Davis, Michigan before retiring to the Hillman area in 1972. She has spent the past 12 years living in Alpena, where she enjoyed being the caregiver at the Carriage House Apartments. She was a member of Calvary Episcopal Church in Hillman. When she was able, she was an avid gardener. Jessie loved to travel to visit her family, she was known as the "Greyhound Granny", as she would often travel by bus to visit. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Jessie is survived by her sons, Warren (Patricia) Cohoon of Lum, MI, Michael (Linda) Cohoon of Marysville, MI, Mitchell Cohoon of Myrtle Beach, SC, and Kevin Cohoon of Herron, MI; daughter's, Patricia (James) McDole of Sacramento, CA, Linda (Butch) Weber of Hilton Head Island, SC, Kathryn (Louis) Crawford and Lydia (Terry) Smith both of Hillman, MI; step daughters, Rosella (Dave) Kosler of Vanderbilt, MI; and Rhonda (John) Ardelean of Owosso, MI; brother, Phillip (Karen) Gallaty of Oakland, OR; 33 grandchildren; 35 great grandchildren; and 9 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Carl in 1978; step son Raymond Cohoon in 1982; 1 sister, and her 8 brothers. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 9, 2006 at 2:00 pm at Calvary Episcopal Church in Hillman, MI, Reverend Mike Bell officiating. Interment will take place immediately following at the Hillman/Rust Twp Cemetery. Visitation hours will be (were) held on Friday, from 5-8 PM at the Green Funeral Home, Hillman.
