Jerry "Chinny" Albert Chinavare Mr. Jerry "Chinny" Albert Chinavare, 75 of Lewiston, Michigan died suddenly on October 14, 2017 at his home. He was born in Trenton, Michigan the son of Albert and Rita (Sharboneau) Chinavare on December 23, 1941. He was a veteran and served his country proudly in the United States Navy. At St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Carleton on August 8, 1964 he married the love of his life, Bonita (Bergmooser) Chinavare and together the couple celebrated 53 years of marriage before his passing. Formerly of Monroe, Chinny has resided in Lewiston for the past five years having lived here back in the 1980s. He retired as the owner and operator of Satellites Unlimited after 25+ years of operating the business with Bonita. Prior to that he worked as a heavy equipment operator for Local 324. He did promoting for boxing, owned and operated the Lewiston Lodge for one year, and also worked as a millwright for Detroit Edison and a foreman for Ottawa Silica. Chinny was a member of the St. Francis Catholic Church in Lewiston, as well as various organizations including the Elk's in Englewood, Florida; American Legion Post 198 in Lewiston; and the Carleton Sportsman's Club. Aside from working and volunteering, Chinny loved to golf, trap shoot, and travel with his wife and family. He loved old westerns, especially John Wayne. He was an avid Michigan football fan and Detroit Red Wings fan. Family was Chinny's number one priority and he cherished the time he was able to spend with them. He will be dearly missed. He is survived by his loving wife, Bonita Chinavare of Lewiston; son, Christopher (Dawn) Chinavare of Horton; daughter, Michelle (Robert) Golden of Bardstown, Kentucky; grandchildren, Jade, Sarah, Tyler, Lindsey, and Molly; and great-grandchildren, Vedder and Phoenix. He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Rita Chinavare; and sister, Barbara Quain. As were his wishes cremation has taken place and there will be a memorial mass held in his honor at 11:00AM on Wednesday, October 18, 2017 at the St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church; Lewiston; Fr. Santiago Hoyumpa officiating. Visitation will take place from 10:00AM until time of service. In lieu of flowers the family has suggested donations be made to St Jude's Children's Hospital.
