James Francis "Mighty" Schmidt James Francis "Mighty" Schmidt, 78, of Lewiston, formerly of Essexville, MI, passed away on March 9, 2010 at his residence. He was born on April 10, 1931 to Edward and Agnes (Gwizdala) Schmidt in Bay City, MI. He married the former Geraldine Wagner in 1960 in Bay City, MI. He served his country in the US Army during the Korean War and the German occupation. He retired from Gregory Construction in 1993 after many years there. He was an avid big game hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed tinkering in his garage. Above all else he loved time with his family. James is survived his sons, Greg (Charlene) Schmidt of Pinconning, MI, and Marc Schmidt of Essexville, MI; daughters, Lynn (Rick) Pullen and Kim Schmidt, both of Bay City, MI; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; brother, Edward (Anne Marie) Schmidt of Milo, ME; and sisters, Margie Roland and Carol (Robert) Ford, both of Bay City, MI. He was preceded in death by his wife Geraldine, and sisters, Rosemary and Romaine. As were the family wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be a memorial service for Mr Schmidt on Tuesday, March 16 , 2010 at 2:00 PM at the Hyatt-Ewald Funeral Home in Bay City, MI, Sister Mary Epple RSM, officiating. Visitation hours will be held at the funeral home from 12:00 PM until time of service at the funeral home. Interment will take place after the services at St Patrick's Cemetery.
