James Ervin “Jimmy” Dodge passed away suddenly on Monday, April 21, 2025. He was born in Flint on January 11, 1954 to James and Irene (Wicks) Dodge and was a longtime resident of Hillman.
Jim proudly served his country as an airframe repair specialist in the U.S. Air Force. His love for his country was only outshined by his love of family and close friends. An award-winning body man, Jim had a passion for the restoration of old cars and bringing new life and beauty back into them. He had the first truck at Cobo Hall that won best of show.
Jim is survived by his six children, Mark Williams of Adrian; Michelle (Brian) Knoch of Lachine; Jammie (Ken) O’Brien of Woodbury, New Jersey; Todd Dodge of Lewiston; William (Amanda) Dodge of Clayton; and Rebecca Hughes of Sarasota, Florida; grandchildren, Kayla, Catherine, Nicholas, Destiny, Brendan, Cheyenne, Janessa, Miles, Abigail, Jestin, Asher, Maxwell, and Jenna; great-grandchildren, Kinzie, Madeline, Maycie, Kaine, Lainie and Faye; three siblings, Patricia (Brian) Klein of Hillman, Clyde (Luann) Dodge of Hillman, and Colleen (Greg) Gambs of Hillman; and longtime girlfriend, Terrie Oxley and her children. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, James Dodge and Irene Bennett; and siblings, Darryl Francisco, Ray Francisco, Diane Orlando, and Greg Bennett.
In accordance with his wishes cremation has taken place. There will be a celebration of life for James held at Chauncey’s in Hillman on Saturday, May 17, 2025 from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM.
