James E. Dobbyn James E. Dobbyn, 70 of Atlanta, Michigan died peacefully surrounded by family on January 7, 2018 at the Florida Hospital of New Smyrna Beach. He was born on October 1, 1947 in Alpena, Michigan to the late, James and Vera (Snyder) Dobbyn. He was a proud veteran and served his country in the United States Army in Germany during Vietnam. In Detroit, Michigan on November 7, 1983 he married his wife, Kimberly (Phillips) Dobbyn and together they celebrated 34 years of marriage before his passing. Jim resided in Atlanta all of his life and just recently, along with Kim, retired to New Smyrna Beach, Florida. While living in Atlanta Jim owned and operated James Dobbyn Trucking. He was a hard worker and it showed. He was a member of the Atlanta Masonic Lodge 516 F &AM and a charter member of the Atlanta Eagles. He also was a life long member of Atlanta United Church of Christ. Above everything that Jim did he treasured the time he spent with his family and friends and he will be dearly missed. He is survived by his loving wife, Kimberly Dobbyn of New Smyrna Beach, Florida; children, Deborah (George) Phillips of Atlanta; Travis (Lauren) Dobbyn of Gaylord; Dustin (Anna Beswick) Dobbyn of Atlanta; James G. (Molly) Dobbyn of Williston, North Dakota; Darren Dobbyn of Atlanta; Jacob Dobbyn of Williston, North Dakota; Kristen Dobbyn of Atlanta; Krystal Taylor of Atlanta; and grandchildren, Hilary, Blakely, and Riley. He was preceded in death by his parents, James H. and Vera Dobbyn. As were his wishes, cremation has taken place in New Smyrna Beach, Florida and a memorial will be held in celebration of his life at 11:00 AM on Saturday, July 7, 2018 at the Congregational United Church of Christ; Atlanta, Rev. Dr. Robert Case officiating.
