James L. Baker James L Baker, 73, of Atlanta, passed away on Sunday, December 14, 2008 at Otsego Memorial Hospital. He was born on April 6, 1935 to Leo and Hatttie (Mettie) Baker. He married the former Francis Burcar on January 14, 1956 in Detroit, MI. He had lived in Atlanta for the past 4 yrs, formerly of Lake Linden, MI. He retired from Western Electric in Plymouth, MI after 20 yrs of service. He owned and operated Tower Shore Motel for a few years. He also worked in construction for 10 years while in Florida. He was a member of the Atlanta Congregational Church. He was a member of the Copper Country Masonic Lodge 135 in Hancock, MI, and was a past Master there, he was also a member of the Hancock Eastern Star. He was a HAM radio operator and and avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed traveling, camping, and tinkering in his garage. He loved to help family and friends in anyway that he could. James is survived by his wife, Francis Baker of Atlanta; sons, Gary (Rachel) Baker of Spring Hill, FL, and Alan (Dorothy) Baker of Holiday, FL; grandchildren, Jenifer, Sarah, and Jessica, and 7 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Baker. As were his wishes, cremation has taken place and a memorial service was held on Thursday, December 18, 2008 at 11:00 Am the Atlanta Congregational Church, Pastor Virginia Titus officiating.
