Jackie Hemry Sr.

Jackie Lee Hemry Sr. Jackie Lee Hemry Sr, 76, of Atlanta, passed away on March 25, 2009 at Alpena Regional Medical Center. He was born on July 7, 1932 to Arthur and Cledbelle (Akins) Hemry in Monroe, MI. Jack retired from Monroe Steel Casting after 18 yrs of service in 1980, then moving to Atlanta in 1982. He was a member of the Atlanta Eagles 4077. He loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing, and mushroom picking especially. He enjoyed playing cards and shooting pool. Jack is survived by his sons, Kevin (Patricia) of Monroe, MI, and Jackie Jr. (Mindy) of Gaylord, MI; daughters, Christine (Robert) Frayer of Chelsea, MI, Nancy (Scott) Ellison and Lisa (Tom) Brown both of Monroe, MI; 13 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; brother Arthur Hemry, and sister, Mary Janet Stanifer, both of Monroe, MI. He was preceded in death by his son, Earl; companion Doreen Barnett; and half brother, Robert Slaughter. A memorial service is tentatively planned for April 18, at 3:00 PM at the Atlanta Bible Church, Pastor Roger Steele officiating. Arrangements were entrusted to the Green Funeral Home, Atlanta, MI. The family has suggested memorial to the Atlanta Bible Church, Atlanta, MI, or to Faith and Hope Hospitality House, Alpena, MI in care of the Green Funeral Home, PO Box 201, Atlanta, MI 49709.
