Irving Calahan Cox Mr. Irving Calahan Cox, 91 of Atlanta, Michigan passed away peacefully on June 18, 2014 at Hillman Haven. He was born in Pennsville, New Jersey to the late, Clinton and Margaret (Wilson) Cox on July 29, 1922. He was a proud veteran of the United States Army and served during World War II. He married the late, Eugenia Cox on August 5, 1944. In 1957, he assisted as assistant troop leader with his son's Boy Scout troop. He went on to help with the organization and after 20 years retired as an assistant District Commissioner for the northeast district of Detroit. Irving has lived in Atlanta since 1976 after retiring from the City of Detroit in 1977, where he worked as a steam fitter for 30 years. He also spent a few years working for Chrysler after serving in the Army. He was a lifetime member of the VFW Post 15023 Michigan member at large and frequently attended church with his wife. In his free time, Irving enjoyed collecting stamps from the United States, Vatican, and United Nations. Above everything, he enjoyed his time spent with family and will be dearly missed. He is survived by son, Daniel Cox of Atlanta; daughter, Susan Cox of California; grandchildren, Paula, Erik, Addam, and Traci. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clinton and Margaret Cox; and wife, Eugenia Cox. As were his wishes, cremation has taken place and there are no services planned for Mr. Cox at this time.
