Irene Louise Bowman Irene Louise Bowman, 88, of Atlanta, MI, passed away at Medilodge in Hillman on February 18, 2011. She was born on November 8, 1922 to Melvin and Lillian (Walker) Dahn in Rogers City, MI. She met and married James Bowman in Detroit in 1940, after moving there to work after graduating from Hillman High School in 1938. She was well known for her cooking and love of baking. She and her husband raised their family in Atlanta before he passed away in 1979. She was a member of the Atlanta Baptist Church. Irene also worked assisting several people in her home and their homes at various times. In the later years she lived with her son Sam, and spent her last time at Medilodge. Irene is survived by her children, Sam (Pat) Bowman of Atlanta, MI, Alan (Dawn) Bowman of Byron, MI, Margaret (Carl) Maggert of Sanford, MI, and Janet (Richard) Deardorff of Pennsylvania; 18 grandchildren, and 20 great grandchildren; and brothers, Elton (Ruth) Dahn of Atlanta, MI, and John (Elsie) Dahn of Hillman, MI; and sisters, An (Lawrence) LaFave and Thelma (Lawrence) Goldberg both of Alpena, MI. She was preceded in death by three of her children, William, Carl, and Geraldine. Graveside services for Mrs Bowman will be held in the spring at Avery Twp Cemetery.
