Mrs. Ida Iris Williams, 90 of Atlanta, Michigan died peacefully on February 23, 2020 at McLaren Northern Michigan Hospital in Petoskey. She was born in Cleveland, Tennessee on August 3, 1929 to the late, Alford and Ollie (Adams) Burger. She married her husband, Dr. John Williams in Oakland, California on October 10, 1947 and together the couple celebrated 72 years of marriage before her passing. Formerly of Utica, the couple moved to the Atlanta area in 1990. Iris was a member of the Church of Christ, Daughter's of the American Revolution, and the United Daughters of Confederacy. She was a lifetime associate of the Rochester College, formerly Michigan Christian College. She enjoyed nature and was a lifetime morel mushroom hunter. She loved catching trout on Hunt Creek, animals, and plants. She spent time gardening and loved the flowers and plants she grew. Above everything, she valued her time spent with family and friends and will be dearly missed.
Iris is survived by her loving husband, John Williams of Atlanta; son, Cliff (Pam) Wiliams of Roseville, Michigan; daughter, Gloria Lynne (Dwight) Campbell of Atlanta; and grandchildren, John Jeremy Scott; Maria Williams; and Alex Williams. She was preceded in death by her parents, Alford and Ollie Burger; brother, Boyd Burger; and sister, Mary Ehrcke.
Funeral services for Mrs. Williams will take place on Saturday, February 29, 2020 at the Atlanta Church of Christ at 1:00 PM with Ministers Dale DuVerney, Jerry Robertson, and Jim Myers officiating. Visitation will take place from 11:00 AM at the church until time of service. Entombment will take place at Loud Township Cemetery.
