Hazel Teets

Hazel Belle Teets Mrs. Hazel Belle Teets, 98 of Atlanta, MI passed away at her residence on January 29, 2012. She was born in Avery Twp, MI to Hoy and Mae (Ferguson) McMurphy on October 20, 1913. She married Bud Teets on June 30, 1939 in Gaylord, MI. She has lived in Atlanta most of her life, having lived in the same home for over 70 years. She was the bookkeeper for Standard Oil where her husband was the Agent. She was a member of the Atlanta Congregational Church and was active with the Women's Fellowship there. She was also a member of the Atlanta VFW Ladies Auxiliary and the Eastern Star, where she held all the offices over the years. She loved to travel all over the world. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, cooking, and baking, as well as hunting and fishing. Hazel was an avid reader and flower gardener and also enjoyed playing cards, especially Pinochle. She is survived by, sons, Roger (Sammie) Teets of Atlanta, MI, and Robert (Sandy) Teets of Durand, WI; grandchildren; Tammie (Greg) Hettel of Dexter, MI; Tighe Teets of Carpio, ND; step grandsons; Kelly (Anna) Schwartz of Charlotte, NC; Michael Schwartz of Atlanta; great-grandchildren; Laine, Kylie, and Logan; brothers, Mick (Sis) McMurphy of Atlanta, Jack (Cena) McMurphy of Atlanta, MI, and Doug (Cleo) McMurphy of West Branch, MI; and a sister, Gladys Meston of Grand Haven, MI. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bud Teets; sisters, Alice Tripp and Marie Cross; and a brother, Irvin McMurphy. Funeral services for Mrs. Teets will be held on Wednesday, February 1, 2012 at 11 am at the Green Funeral Home, Atlanta, MI; Pastor Ginny Titus officiating. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 31, 2012 from 4 pm until 8 pm. Interment will take place at Briley Twp Cemetery. Memorials have been suggested to the Atlanta Congregational Church or to Hospice of Michigan, Gaylord.
