Hazel Pawson

Hazel Charlotte Pawson Mrs. Hazel Charlotte Pawson, 88 of Lewiston, Michigan died peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones on the morning of June 17, 2016. She was born in Adrian, Michigan the daughter of George and Thelma (Shove) Woody on August 5, 1927. She married her husband, Gary Pawson on August 27, 1965 in Mio and together the couple celebrated 50 years of marriage before her passing. Formerly of Manitou Beach, the couple moved to Lewiston 51 years ago. Hazel worked as a cook and nurse's aide at Woody's Geriatric Home of Nursing in Adrian which was owned and operated by her parent's. She had a variety of hobbies including; crafting with plastic canvas, gardening, fishing, and cards of any kind such as Pinochle and Canasta. She was a collector of stamps, coins, and bottles. Hazel loved to cook and to feed people and it was known that you never left her house hungry. She enjoyed babysitting kids over the years and more importantly, the time that she spent with her family. She will be greatly missed. She is survived by her loving husband, Gary Pawson of Lewiston; sons, Don (Cindy) Foley of Lewiston; Mike (Cindy) Foley of Gaylord; Gary (Darla) Pawson of Charlevoix; daughters, Linda (Delbert) Thomas of Johannesburg; Cindy (James) Lester of Johannesburg; 18 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and sister, Carol Spadafora of Manitou Beach. She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Thelma Woody; son, Bobby Foley; brothers, John Woody; Jerry Woody; and sister, Pearl Rosenfield. Funeral services for Mrs. Pawson were held on June 20, 2016 at 11:00AM at the Green Funeral Home; Lewiston; Pastor Scott Scheer officiating. Interment took place at Albert Township Cemetery; Lewiston. In lieu of flowers, the family suggested memorials be made to the Hospice of Michigan, Gaylord.
