Harvey Wilson Marlatt

Mr. Harvey Wilson Marlatt, 75 of Atlanta, Michigan died peacefully on August 8, 2024 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born in Alpena, Michigan on August 26, 1948 to the late Donald and Irene (Wilson) Marlatt. Harvey lived a full and eventful life from beginning to end and touched the lives of many people along the way. He was raised on a small farm in Atlanta, Michigan with his mom and five brothers. His father passed away when he was 7 years old. When he was 11, he and his mom moved to Alpena where he graduated from Alpena High School and met the love of his life, Connie Clark. They married in 1968 and moved to Ypsilanti where Harvey attended college at Eastern Michigan University. Harvey played four years at EMU and was captain of the basketball team for two of those years earning second team all-American honors as a senior. He also played two and a half seasons for the Detroit Pistons. Harvey went on to become a beloved teacher and coach. He taught at Atlanta Community Schools for 28 years and coached basketball for 20+ years. Harvey was an avid outdoorsman. He loved hunting, fishing, golfing, and playing tennis. He spent his winters at Sugar Creek in Bradenton, Florida and he loved to spend time on Marlatt Mountain and be with his family. He is and will be deeply missed.

 Harvey is survived by his wife, Connie Marlatt of Atlanta; son, Ryan (Kim) Marlatt of Atlanta; daughter, Meegan Feil of Traverse City; grandchildren, Ashley, Jessalyn, Preston, Jayden, Sadie, Greyson, and Alexandra; great-grandson, Hutch; siblings, Donald (Maryann) Marlatt of Atlanta; Ronald Marlatt of Battle Creek; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Irene; and brothers, Raymond, Lawrence, and Rodney Marlatt.

 Funeral services for Harvey will take place at 1:00 PM on Sunday, August 18, 2024 at Atlanta Community Schools, 10500 County Rd 489, Atlanta. Visitation will take place from 11:30 AM until the time of service followed by a luncheon at the Atlanta Eagles, 10980 M32, Atlanta. A private interment will take place at Briley Township Cemetery with immediate family only. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in memory of Harvey to Hospice of Michigan, 989 Spaulding SE, Ada, Michigan 49301.
