Hannah Schalk Hannah Schalk, 96, of Hillman, MI passed away at her residence on December 3, 2007. She was born on September 1, 1911 to Rudolph and Helena (Heinrich) Bahrke in Montmorency Twp, MI. She married August Shalk in 1930. Hannah was a member of the St Johns Lutheran Church, participating in the Ladies Guild and Lutherans Womens Missionary League there for many years. She loved to make quilts for missions and family. She also enjoyed playing cards and her vegetable garden. Hannah is survived by her daughter, Deloris (Ken) Longpre of Hillman, MI; son, Marlin (Janet) Schalk of Rogers City, MI; eight grandchildren, Roger (Melissa) Longpre, of Hillman, MI, Karen (james) Myers of Rudyard, MI, Cindy (Ray) Zavada of Fenton, MI, Rick (Sandy) Schalk of Wayne, MI, Candy (Kenneth) Smith of Florida, Jack Schalk of California, Todd (Jan) Schalk of Louisiana, and Carrie (James) Schleben of Rogers City, MI; 16 great grandchildren; 5 great great grandchildren; and three sisters, Emma Badgero and Selma Vanderveer both of Hillman, MI, and Hulda Blossey of Pinconning, MI. She was preceded in death by her husband, August; sister, Eleanora Steinke; and five brothers, Herman (Scottie), Paul, Erick, Walter, and Herbert Bahrke. Funeral services for Mrs Schalk will be on Friday, December 7, 2007 at 11:00 AM at St Johns Lutheran Church, Pastor Jason Mandley officiating. Visitation hours will be held on Thursday from 2-8 PM at the church. Interment will take place in the spring at St Johns Lutheran Cemetery. The family has suggested memorials to Hospice of Michigan or to St Johns Lutheran Church
