Gordon Eugene Henry Gordon Eugene Henry, 87, of Atlanta, MI, passed away on January 3, 2011 at his residence. He was born on January 26, 1923 to Manuel and Margaret (Reichard) Henry in Port Huron, MI. He has lived in Atlanta since June of 2010, formerly of South Carolina. He served in the US Navy in the USS Wichita Battleship. Gordon was in the conservation corps where he learned to run heavy equipment before joining the Navy. He was a life member of the Gaylord VFW Post. After leaving the service, he became a barber for 54 years. He owned and operated his own shops at Ford Motor Co World Headquarters and other Ford plants as well. After leaving the barber shop, he and his wife were caretakers of the Trutner Estate in Grayling for 15 yrs. He loved to boat and putts around in his garage. Gordon was an great carpenter and could build just about anything. Gordon is survived by his sons, Gary (Diane) Henry of Sanford, NC; and Jay (Betty) Henry of Bluffton, SC; daughter, Vicki (Dave) Utt of Atlanta; grandchildren, Jimmy, Jennifer, Sheralynn, Brandon, Gordy, and Heidi; great grandchildren, Heather, Hailey, Alicia, Sean, Sean, Kylie, Braden, Keegan, and Brett; and a brother, Jim (Nancy) Henry of Port Huron, MI. He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley; brothers, Kenneth, Carl, and Harvey; and a newborn sister. As were his wishes, cremation has taken place and a memorial service for Mr Henry will be held in the spring. Arrangements were entrusted to the Green Funeral Home.
