Godfrey Johnson Jr.

Godfrey Johnson Jr. Mr. Godfrey Johnson Jr, 86 of Lewiston passed away at his home on July 12, 2012 with loved ones at his side. He was born to Godfrey and Nettie Johnson on November 11, 1925 in Detroit. He married Glenda Schroeder on November 28, 1964 in Freeland and together they spent forty-seven years together and raised three children. Godfrey moved to Lewiston in 1989 formally of Saginaw Township. He served his country in the United States Army during World War II and was a proud veteran. He retired from AC Delco where he worked in sales after twenty five years of service. He was an active member in the Lewiston Congregational United Church of Christ, Lewiston Moose, and the American Legion Post 198. He was also an honorary member of the Lewiston Lions and past president of the Twin Lakes Property Owners Association. In his free time, he enjoyed golfing, camping, woodworking, and painting. He often spent time on his boat fishing on West Twin Lake and was an avid traveler. He was always a gentleman. Most of all, he was a wonderful father and caregiver for his family and he will be missed dearly. He is survived by his loving wife, Glenda Johnson of Lewiston; daughters, Trista (Thad) Carter of Charlotte, NC; Leigh (Rick) Bergstrom of Martinez, CA; son, Stephen (Sharon) Brizzalara of San Mateo, CA; and seven grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Godfrey and Nettie; and daughter, Erica Sanford. Funeral services for Mr. Johnson will be held on Monday, July 16, 2012 at 11am at the Lewiston Congregational United Church of Christ, Lewiston, MI; Pastors Keith and Ginny Titus officiating. Visitation will take place on Sunday, July 15, 23012 at the Green Funeral Home, Lewiston, MI from 4:00PM until 8:00PM. In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested that donations be sent to Mercy Hospice or the Lewiston Congregational United Church of Christ.
