Giles Slattery Giles Slattery, 66, of Hillman, MI, passed away suddenly on Monday, August 8, 2011 as the result of a traffic accident. He was born on October 20, 1944 in Hillman, MI, to Gordon and Kathleen (Bouchey) Slattery. He served his country during Vietnam in the US Navy. Giles has lived in Hillman most of his life. He attended St Augustine Catholic Church and was an active member of the Hillman VFW Post 2356. He was an avid woodworker and liked to snorkel and scuba dive. He loved solving puzzles, especially Cryptaquotes. Above all else, Giles loved his time with family and friends. Giles is survived by his wife, Patricia and daughter, Denise Slattery, both of Oklahoma City, OK; daughters, Annette Garibay of Flushing, MI, and Theresa Garten of Mount Morris, MI; son, Greg Slattery of Flushing, MI; 7 grandchildren; brothers, Jim (Wanda) Slattery of Woodward, OK, and Kevin Slattery of Venezuela; and a sister, Sheila (Joe) Konwinski of Bloomfield Hills, MI. He was preceded in death by his son, William; and a brother, Jerry. Visitation hours will be held on Thursday from 4-8 PM at the church, with wake services at 6:30 PM. As were his wishes, cremation has taken place and a memorial mass for Mr. Slattery will be held on Friday, August 12, 2011 at 10:00 AM at the St Augustine Catholic Church, Hillman, MI, Father Rolando Silva officiating. Internment services with burial honors provided by the Hillman VFW Post 2356 will be held at 12:30 PM at the St Augustine Catholic Cemetery. Arrangements were entrusted to the Green Funeral Home.
