Mr. Gerald “Jerry” Earl Montry, 74 of Lewiston, Michigan died peacefully at his home surrounded by family on August 6, 2022. He was born in Detroit, Michigan on October 23, 1947 to the late, James and Evelyn (Watt) Montry. He served his country proudly in the United States Navy during Vietnam and was awarded two bronze stars for his service. On March 30, 1991 he married Linda Lee (Lemons) Montry and together the couple celebrated 31 years of marriage before his passing. Jerry was a member of the St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, VFW Post #7910 and the American Legion Post 198. He drove truck for a living but loved to ride his motorcycle. He loved racing hydroplanes when he was younger. Jerry liked to play cards, especially Bid Euchre and Cribbage. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and camping, but most importantly, family. He loved the reunions that were held with family in his backyard. Jerry is and will be deeply missed.
He is survived by his loving wife, Linda Lee Montry of Lewiston; children, Adam (Rachael) Montry of Howell; Nick (Tricia) Montry of Sterling Heights; Mike Mazzei of Sacramento, California; grandchildren, Brenna and Hunter Montry; great-granddaughter, Kiyah Williams; sister, Beatrice (Joseph) Brozovich of Canton; nieces, Pamela and Debbie and their extended families. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Evelyn Montry; and first wife, Sue.
Funeral services for Mr. Montry will take place at noon on Saturday, August 13, 2022 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church; Fr. Al Pillarelli officiating. Visitation will take place on Friday, August 12, 2022 at the church from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM and again on Saturday from 11:00 AM until time of service. Interment will take place at Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly. In lieu of flowers the family has suggested donations to the American Cancer Society or the Veterans organization of your choice.
