Gerald Covitz

Mr. Gerald Joseph Covitz, 75 of Atlanta, Michigan died peacefully surrounded by his family at his home on the evening of March 7, 2019. He was born in Detroit, Michigan on April 13, 1943 to the late, Valentine and Helen Covitz. He served his country proudly in the United States Army. Gerald moved to Atlanta in the early 90's and married his wife, Marta (Moore) Covitz in May of 1996 celebrating  22 years of marriage before his passing. He was an outdoorsman, carpenter, master deck builder, and a jack of all trades. Gerald enjoyed fishing, hunting, golfing, and had a knack for stained glass. He was a very social man and enjoyed talking, but most importantly, he enjoyed time spent with family and friends. He will be dearly missed.

He is survived by his loving wife, Marta Covitz of Atlanta; daughter, Heather (Chad) Stiles of Attica; sons, Jason (Heidi) Mclellan of Lapeer; Bruce (Elizabeth) Nicaise of Hurlburt Field, Florida; daughter, Ethel (Brett) Crandall; son, J.J. Covitz both of Johannesburg; grandchildren, Brendan, Anthony, Shelby, Alexander, Aeddon, Kelly, Carli, Joevy, Elijah, Jason, and Madison; sisters, Valerie Taucher of Atlanta; and Patricia (Tom) Stone of Clinton Township. He was preceded in death by his parents, Valentine and Helen Covitz, and sister, Marlene Gail.

As were his wishes cremation has taken place. There will be a memorial held in celebration of Gerald's life at 2:00 PM on Friday, March 15, 2019 at the Atlanta Eagles with a luncheon following.
