George Jay Corey Mr. George Jay Corey, 87 of Atlanta, Michigan died on the early morning of January 14, 2016 at Upjohn Care and Rehab Center. He was born on December 28, 1928 in Detroit, Michigan to the late, Eugene and Florence (Ziegler) Corey. He served his country proudly in the United States Navy during both World War II and the Korean War. He married wife, Joan in 1958 in Redford, Michigan. She preceded him in death in 1984. He then moved to Atlanta where he lived for the last 25 years. George enjoyed stamp collecting and was the past commander for the VFW Post #9489 in Atlanta. He will be dearly missed. He is survived by sons, George Corey Jr of Killeen, Texas; John (Carol) Corey of Kalamazoo; daughter, Sharron Gallow of Fairview; nine grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and sister, Marian James of Arizona. He was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene and Florence Corey; and wife, Joan Corey. As were his wishes, Mr. Corey has been cremated and there are no services planned at this time. A memorial service will he held at a later date.
