Gary E. Courterier In celebration and honor we remember the life of husband, father, grandfather and friend, Gary E. Courterier. Gary went to be with his Lord on September 21st, 2009 at the age of 78. Gary is survived by his best friend and wife, Barbara A. Courterier. Gary and Barb resided in Johannesburg and Okeechobee, FL. Gary will be loved and missed by his ten children, Gary M. Courterier (Candace), Bonnie Neuenfelt (Jack), David Courterier (Patricia), Renee Kozlowski (Pat), Sheryl Walker (Dwight), Susan Langley, Michael Courterier (Pamela), Raymond Courterier (Penny), Jeff Courterier (Sherry), and Scott Courterier (Victoria). Gary was also a role model and inspiration to his many Grandchildren, Great-Grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Grandpa Gary was well known and loved by all and will be greatly missed by his friends, family and neighbors in the many communities he has lived and worked. Gary was preceded in death by his father and mother, Raymond and Ella Courterier, brother, Raymond Douglas Courterier and granddaughter, Nicole Myers. Gary spent his youth in the Detroit area, working as a machinist. Gary and Barbara moved to Northern MI with his children in 1967. He proudly pursued a career in Northern Michigan as a building contractor. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and spending time with his many friends and family. Gary's favorite past-times included watching his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren playing sports and doing activities. He was a well known face and voice at all the Joburg-Lewiston games. All ten of Gary and Barb's children proudly graduated from Johannesburg-Lewiston. We will be celebrating Gary's life on Thursday, Sept. 24th with a showing at Green Funeral Home in Lewiston from 4 to 8 p.m. The funeral will be held at the Johannesburg Christian Church on Friday at Sept. 25th at 1:00 p.m. Gary's family would appreciate in lieu of flowers please send cards and donations to the Johannesburg Christian Church Playground fund.
