Frederick E. Leverton Frederick E. Leverton, a longtime Temperance, MI resident, died on October 8, 2007 at his residence in Lewiston, MI. He was born on June 22, 1938 in LaSalle, MI to Earl and Virginia (Leutz) Leverton. He graduated from the Bedford High School in 1957 and married the former Joyce Masters on June 25, 1960 in St Paul's Lutheran Church in Temperance. He worked for General Mills from 1956-1972, and then went to work at Krueger Harvey Agency, Inc. in Temperance; purchasing the agency in 1976, and running it until retiring in 2000. He also was a volunteer for the Bedford No. 1 Fire Department prior to owning the agency. Fred was a member of St Luke's Lutheran Church in Temperance, MI. He was a member of the Samaria Lodge #438 F&AM, was master in 1982; joined the Zenobia Shrine in Toledo, OH in 1978, and was Potentate in 1992; he was a member of Cabiri #8, Zenobia Arab Patrol. He was a life member of the Zenobia Motorcyle Escorts, and of the Kachina Klub. He was also a member of the Firelands Shrine Club, Zenobia Campers, Zenobia Hillbilly clan #75, and the Fucowee Tribe. He was an honorary member of the Zenobia Legion of Honor, Highlanders, Mystics, Drum and Bugle Core, Zenobia Clowns, and Findlay Shrine Club. He was also a member of the Royal Orders of Jesters Court No 21, of which he was director in 1999; the Toledo Billiken Club, and Jesters on Wheels, Lake Region Billiken Club of Central Florida, and Elks No 53 in Toledo, OH. His memberships in Lewiston included the Lewiston Fun Ones Snowmobile Club, Lewiston Moose No 2495, and the Lewiston Sons of the American Legion. He also belonged to the Family Motor Coach Association and the Allegro Club. Fred's dream was to travel to Alaska in a motorhome, which he and Joyce fulfilled in 2000 along with several other couples and their rigs. His other dream was to retire in the northwoods to Lewiston, MI. That dream was also fulfilled in 2004 after he and Joyce moved there from downstate. Mr. Leverton is survived by his wife, Joyce; two sons, Steven (Holly) Leverton of Temperance, MI, and Jeffrey Leverton of Lewiston, MI; daughter, Julie (Anthony) Werstein of Maybee, MI; seven grandchildren; sister, Shirley (Frank) Heck of Toledo, OH; brother, Bob (Diane) Leverton of Temperance, MI; two aunts, an uncle, four nieces, and numerous cousins; along with many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Virginia. As were his wishes, cremation has taken place. A private service for family will be held at a later date. Memorials have been suggested to the Zenobia New Building Fund, in care of: Zenobia Shriners, PO Box 437, Toledo, OH 43697-0437, or to a charity of the donor's choice.
