Florence Tripp

Mrs. Florence Marie Tripp, 89 of Hillman, Michigan died peacefully at her home surrounded by loved ones on February 25, 2020. She was born on January 19, 1931 in Lucas, Michigan to the late, Wendell and Ida (Henry) Miller. Florence graduated from Atlanta High School and attended Montmorency County Normal School. She taught in Kent, Alpena, Isabella, and Montmorency counties. She married, Garnet Tripp on February 17, 1951. In 1970, she graduated from Central Michigan University with a BA in teaching. Florence was an active volunteer with the Girl Scouts, the American Cancer Society, and Michigan Home Extension. She was a member of the Montmorency County Historical Society, the Hillman Historical Society, and the Hillman United Methodist Church.

Florence is survived by her children, Sally King of Wilcox, Arizona; Nancy (Dennis) Delnay of Norton, Ohio; Mary (Jim) Sullivan of Waterford; John (Sara) Tripp of Sparta; four grandchildren, Allen, Dana, Denise, Matthew; and great-granddaughter, Galaxie. She was preceded in death by her parents, Wendell and Ida Miller; husband, Garnet; and siblings.

Funeral services for Mrs. Tripp will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, February 29, 2020 at the Hillman United Methodist Church, Pastor Lisa Kelley officiating. Visitation will take place on Friday, February 28, 2020 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the church and again on Saturday from 10:00 AM until time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society, Alzheimer's Association, United Methodist Church, or charity of your choice.
