Eva Sortman

Eva Isabel Sortman passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 24, 2019 at the age of 105 years.

Eva was born on January 12, 1914 in Canada.  She was a daughter of Wismer and Maud (nee Kerby) McKeig.  On May 18, 1932, she married Charles W. Sortman.  Eva was very proud of her home and her family.  She always looked sophisticated and never went out of the house without her jewelry and lipstick.  Eva was a long time member and very active in Lewiston Congregational United Church of Christ and Lewiston Fifty Plus Club.  She was a Red Wing and Tiger Fan.  Eva enjoyed crafting, knitting, sewing, embroidery, playing cards and bingo.  Socializing was one of Eva’s favorite things to do and had a hand in all things with Montmorency County and Lewiston, even having the honor of being Grand Marshall for Lewiston.  Eva’s passing has left a void in the hearts of her loving family and all who knew her.  She will be greatly missed.

Eva is survived by her children, Gerald (Evelyn) Sortman and Barbara (Ronald) Gilbert; grandchildren, Paul (Anne) Gilbert, Peggy (Doug) Keller, Margaret (Les) Milton, Donald (Amy) Sortman, Jill (Jeff) Potter Melissa Sortman and Arthur Sortman; grandson-in-law, Matthew (Jen) Ciolek and many great-grandchildren, great great-grandchildren and great great great-grandchildren.  Eva was predeceased by her husband, Charles W. Sortman; son, Frederick Sortman; grandchildren, Julie Ciolek and Charles Sortman; brother, Howard McKeig and parents, Wismer and Maud McKeig.

Visitation for Eva will be held on ­­­­­­­Sunday, December 29, 2019 from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with the service starting at 7:00 p.m. at Hauss & Modetz Funeral Home, 47477 Romeo Plank Road, Macomb. Visitation up north will take place on Saturday, January 4, 2020 starting at 10:00 a.m. with a 11:00 a.m. service at Green Funeral Home in Lewiston.   Burial will take place in the spring time in Lewiston.
