Ethel Louise Stevens Mrs. Ethel Louise Stevens, 94 of Atlanta, Michigan passed away at her home on June 13, 2014. She was born in Birch Run, Michigan to the late, Myron and Clara (MacDonald) Pomeroy on June 2, 1920. She married late husband, Gayle Stevens in 1940 and together they raised a family. She graduated from Hillman High School and went on to County Normal to become a teacher. She taught for a few years in the Clio area before returning home after her marriage. Ethel was an avid seamstress and loved to sew. She also enjoyed gardening and canning. Most importantly, she enjoyed her time with her grandchildren and will be missed dearly. She is survived by loving son, Nick (Lonny) Stevens of Atlanta; ten grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Myron and Clara Pomeroy; husband, Gayle Stevens; daughters, Kayann Baur; Mary Lou Stevens; LoisLynn Stevens, and a brother Robert Pomery. Funeral services for Mrs. Stevens will take place at 11:00AM on Friday, June 20, 2014 at the Big Rock Congregational Church; Atlanta, Michigan; Pastor Keith Jones officiating. Visitation will take place at Green Funeral Home; Atlanta, Michigan on Thursday, June 19, 2014 from 4:00PM until 8:00PM. Internment will take place at Avery Township Cemetery following services. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Hospice of Michigan, Alpena.
