Mrs. Erma Faye Tackett, 61 of Hillman, Michigan died peacefully on July 25, 2022 at MyMichigan Medical Center in Midland. She was welcomed into Heaven with open arms by her mother Dorothy and her sister Sue. Erma was born on March 13, 1961 to the late, Jack Holly and Dorothy Smith in Alpena, Michigan. She resided in the Detroit area where she spent 25 years working for Arbor Hospice before returning to Hillman in 2015. In the 1990’s she spent her summers in Hillman with family and worked as an EMT. She married the love of her life her husband, Terry Tackett, on March 19, 1977 and together the couple celebrated 45 years of marriage. Alongside one another, they built a good life out of a huge love for each other and a lot of hard work through all the ups and downs. Erma was fiercely loyal to her friends and family, quick to crack a joke and even quicker to call someone out for misbehaving. She made holidays special for her family and assured that they never went without. Even during the times they thought they didn’t have much, they felt that they were rich from her efforts. Erma was a skilled woodworker and was talented in any craft she tried. She was an amazing mother, a loving wife, and a loyal friend. She will be missed dearly by all who knew her.
Erma is survived by her loving husband, Terry Tackett of Hillman; son, Terry (Kari) Tackett of Allen Park; daughter, April Tackett of Hillman; brothers, Harold (Judy) Smith; Donald (Robin) Smith; Larry Smith all of Hillman; and her dogs, Sadie and Dixie. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jack Holly and Dorothy Smith; and sister, Susan Cady.
In accordance with her wishes, cremation has taken place. The family has chosen to remember her privately at this time.
