Elwood Wallace Shelly Elwood Wallace Shelly, 78, of Atlanta passed away on May 20, 2009 in Port Huron, MI. He was born on November 12, 1930, in Six Lakes, Michigan, the son of Margaret (Griffith) and Frank Shelly. He was one of 17 children. Mr. Shelly had retired from Briley township as Supervisor. Elwood was a PFC in the Army unit #7461 stationed in Panama, traveling through Brazil, South America, and Mexico from 1951 to 1953. Elwood loved to ride motorcycles in his youth. He was a lifelong hunter. He guided elk hunts in Atlanta and was an avid fisherman, deer, raccoon, and bear hunter. He raised hunting dogs and operated Shelly's Trading Post in Howell, Michigan, until he moved to Atlanta, Michigan in 1972. Elwood is survived by his ex-wife of 32 years, Charlotte (Clyde) Allen. Surviving children are Liz (Roger) Maki of Petoskey, MI., Joe Shelly of Gaylord, MI., Josie Shelly of Gaylord, MI., Jim Shelly and Oscar Rhoton, of Romulus, MI., Chris (Dave) Tesner of Capac, MI., Pam (Brad) Fulkerson, of Atlanta, MI., Clayton and Luke Shelly of Gaylord, Mil 13 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren; sisters, Phyllis Porter and Mabel Hudson of Six Lakes, Susie Kujovich of Chicago; brothers Mickey of Six Lakes, and Ed of Alburquerque; and numerour nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by sisters Bernice, Marie, Argie, Hallis, Peggy, and brothers: Joseph, Robert, Glen, Ace, Pete, and Clayton. Funeral services will be Saturday, May 23rd, at 2:00 PM, at the Atlanta Bible Church, Pastor Roger Steele officiating. Visiation will take place at the church from 12:00 until time of service. A memorial luncheon will be held at the church immediately following services. Interment will take place at a later date at the Avery Twp Cemetery.
