Ellen Charity Turkovich Mrs. Ellen Charity Turkovich, 100 of Atlanta, Michigan passed away at her home on December 9, 2014. She was born in Monroe County, Michigan to the late, Perry and Mabel (Mills) Perkins on November 5, 1914. She moved to Atlanta in the 1950s, working at Wayne County General prior to moving north. Ellen owned and operated the Atlanta Hotel and Bowling Alley for many years with husband, Wally Halvorson. She was a member of the Atlanta Bible Church and active in the VFW Post and Eastern Star over the years. She was once a hospice volunteer in the community and a member of the Atlanta Chamber of Commerce. Ellen was an avid reader, enjoyed nature and feeding the birds and squirrels, as well as her love for her cat, "Kitty." She is survived by stepdaughters, Joanne Smith of Clarkston; Penny Chrysugellos of Livonia; brother, Perry (Brenda) Perkins of California; sister-in-law, Hazel Rowe of Minnesota; and nieces and nephews, Warren (Ruth) Perkins; Perry (Kathy) Perkins; Darryl (Sue) Perkins; Tim Perkins; Wally (Rita) Perkins; Leslie Carrico; Lisa (Floyd) Pratt; Peggy (Glen) Wilson; Roy Perkins; Ann (Thom) Seymour; Patty (Greg) Cella; and her loving caregivers. She was preceded in death by her parents, Perry and Mabel Perkins; husband, Wally Halvorson; husband, John Turkovich; brother, Warren Perkins; sister, Divida Habitz. Funeral services for Mrs. Turkovich will be held at 1:00PM on Monday, December 15, 2014 at the Atlanta Bible Church; Atlanta, Michigan; Pastor Roger Steele officiating. Visitation will take place from 11:00AM until time of service. Memorials have been suggested to the Atlanta Bible Church or to the Elk Country Animal Shelter.
