Mrs. Eileen Agnes Simkins, 99 of Hillman, Michigan died peacefully surrounded by her family on June 7, 2021 at her home. She was born in Carlton, Michigan on February 22, 1922 to the late, George and Catherine (Bund) Fay. She married her husband, Frank Simkins on November 7, 1941 and together the couple celebrated 64 years of marriage before his passing in 2005. Eileen was a member of the St. Augustine Catholic Church, a lifetime member at Brush Creek Mill, and also served as a member of the Council of Catholic Women. During World War II she worked at the Willow Run Bomber Plant. She also worked as the cashier for Belleview Community Schools in the past and at Wayne Wire Plant in Hillman. When Eileen wasn't working or volunteering she enjoyed numerous hobbies including; sewing, quilting, reading, gardening, baking, archery, fishing, camping, and both bird watching and feeding the birds. She prayed each night for those on the sick list at church and didn't take anyone off the list even after they were well. She was always ready for something new and was a woman of great faith who will be missed dearly.
Eileen is survived by her children, Kathy Stevens of Hillman; son, Frank (Gloria) Simkins of Traverse City; grandchildren, John (Karen) Stevens; Merry (David) Marinello; Mike (Gaye) Simkins; Michelle Simkins; Frank (Suzie) Simkins; Joe (Char) Simkins; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and daughter-in-law, Jacqueline (Wayne) Baker of Omak, Washington. She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Catherine Fay; husband, Frank; son, John F. Simkins; siblings, Ralph Fay; Marie Fay; Francis Fay; and Viola Fay.
Funeral services will take place at 11:00 AM on Friday, June 11, 2021 at St. Augustine Catholic Church, Hillman; Fr. Jim Siler officiating. Visitation will take place from 10:00 AM until time of service. Interment will follow services at St. Augustine Catholic Cemetery where Eileen will be laid to rest.
