Edward Lee Meyers Edward Lee Meyers, 86, of Atlanta, passed on to Heaven on September 21, 2008, after a long illness his body could no longer fight. He was born on October 11, 1921 to Edward and Elsie (Salisbury) Meyers in Detroit, MI. He married the former Grace Lloyd on October 31, 1942 in Detroit. Ed was drafted and served his country in the Army Air Corps during WWII. He retired from the City of Detroit where he worked 32 years as a plasterer for the Housing Commission. He and his wife became permanent residents in Atlanta after his retirement in 1985 and have enjoyed many good friends and times together here. Ed was a member of Big Rock Congregational Church. He was a jack of all building trades, and enjoyed helping family and friends with anything possible. He collected stamps and liked to work with stained glass. Edward leaves behind his wife of 66 yrs, Grace; children, Sue (Al) Ravenscroft of Ames, Iowa, Mary (Richard) Kimball of East Lansing, MI, Janice (James) Bow of St Clair Shores, MI, and John Meyers of Langlois, OR; grandchildren, Ethan (Dawn) Bentley, and Jamie Bow; two great grandchildren, Griffin and Cooper Bentley; brother, Arthur Field of Ray, MI; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Barbara Bowen. There will be a memorial service in his honor on Saturday, September 27, 2008 at 11:00 AM at the Big Rock Congregational Church in Atlanta, Pastor Brian Tidd officiating. A luncheon will be held at the church following services. Interment will take place later that afternoon at Briley Twp Cemetery.
