Edna Ruth Mattison Mrs. Edna Ruth Mattison, 92 of Lewiston, Michigan died peacefully on February 6, 2016 at Providence Park Hospital in Novi. She was born in Albert Township, Michigan on August 11, 1923 to the late, Charlie and Hildur (Hermanson) Newell. She married her husband, George "Bob" Mattison in Detroit on April 21, 1949 and together the couple celebrated 64 years of marriage before his passing in 2013. Edna was born and raised in Lewiston. She moved to Detroit for some time before returning back to Lewiston in 1975. She was a member of the Lewiston Congregational United Church of Christ and loved conversation and being at church. She valued any time that was spent with people. She liked to do crafts in her spare time but her joy was mostly found in being a mother and raising her family. She will be dearly missed. She is survived by sons, Charles (Debbie) Mattison of Plymouth; Bruce (Julie) Mattison of South Lyon; grandchildren, Charles Jr; Andy; and Johnny; great-grandchildren, Kelley and David; sister, Lillian (Dewey) Ellis; and brother, Pete Newell both of Lewiston. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Hildur Newell; husband, George; sister, Helen Johnson; and brothers, Bob; Jim; George; and Charlie Newell. Funeral services for Mrs. Mattison will take place at 11:00AM on Friday, February 12, 2016 at the Lewiston Congregational United Church of Christ; Pastor Dave Engel officiating. Visitation will take place from 10:00AM until time of service.
