Edith Wiscombe Edith Christine Wiscombe, 89, of Hillman, MI, passed away on January 18, 2010 in Inglis, FL, surrounded by her husband and children. She was born on January 23, 1920 to Hobart and Roxie (Ward) Ball in Marshall, NC. She married William Wiscombe on July 20, 1974 in Clarkston, MI. She graduated Valedictorian of her high school class in Marshall, NC. She retired as a Superintendatnt at Wayne Wire Cloth Company in Hillman in 1974. She was a 4H leader, a Sunday school teacher, and member of the Atlanta Order of the Eastern Star. She was a life member and very active at the Pleasant Valley Free Methodist Church. She enjoyed gardening, both flowers and vegetables, and loved canning and baking. She liked to crochet, knit and sew. Edith loved to watch her hummingbirds, and was an avid organ player. She always loved entertaining the neighborhood kids with chili, homemade doughnuts or whatever was on hand as the kids were sledding, skating, or playing ball outside. She was always very active in her community and with her family. Edith is survived by her husband, William of Hillman, MI; children, Billiejean ( George) Bowman of Canton, MI; Virginia Abbe of Comins, MI; John Richway of Atlanta, MI, Robert (Rosita) Richway of Escalon, CA, Mary Ann (Joseph) Burke of Gladwin, MI, Linda Mae (Steve) Barnett of Hillman, MI; step children, Carol Jean (Butch) Scroggins of TN, William Jr (Carrie) Wiscombe of AZ, Randy Wiscombe of FL, and Tim Wiscombe of Pontiac, MI; grandchildren, Damon, Tiffany, Monika, Narcy, Angel, J.C., Connie, Kendra, and Karen; step grandchildren, Rodney, Roger, Carol Annette, Brenda, Pam, Tammy, Ronald, Wendi-Jo, Trisha, and Thomas; 15 great grandchildren; 23 step great grandchildren; 1 great great granddaughter on the way; and sisters, Dorothy Niedling of Danridge, TN, and Della Mae (Robert) Capps of Asheville, NC. She was preceded in death by her son in laws, Virgil Abbe and Gunther Schramm; grandsons, Virgie Abbe and Eric Bailey; brother Frank and his wife Mae Ball; and brother in law Bruce Niedling. Funeral services for Mrs Wiscombe will be held on Saturday, January 23, 2010 at 11:00 AM at the Pleasant Valley Free Methodist Church, Hillman, Pastor Richard Kennedy officiating. Visitation hours will be held from 4-8 PM at the Green Funeral Home, Atlanta, with an Eastern Star service at 7:30 PM; and again on Saturday from 10:00 AM until time of service at the church. Interment will take place in the Spring at Hillman/Rust Twp Cemetery.
