Edith Hofstra

Edith Grace Hofstra Mrs. Edith Grace Hofstra, 78 of Lewiston, Michigan died suddenly on January 22, 2019 at Otsego Memorial Hospital in Gaylord. She was born on November 29, 1940 to the late, Karl and Mabel (Brainard) Kriesch in Detroit, Michigan. She married her husband, Jack Hofstra on August 10, 1963 and together the couple celebrated 45 years of marriage before Jack's passing in September of 2008. Formerly of Westland, the couple had resided in Lewiston since 1970. Edith was a member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday school. She was a boy scout leader starting with her kids and continuing as secretary for a few years after. She was a member of the Lewiston Curling Club, the Lewiston Lakes Quilters and she was avid in sewing. With a group of members in the community she helped to start the first Outreach Hospice program in the Lewiston area. Edith loved to travel with family all over the world, and especially enjoyed seeing her grandchildren. She will be dearly missed.

She is survived by her children, Tamara (Julie) Cordero of Posen, Illinois; Duane (Cindy) Hofstra of Reedsville, Wisconsin; Chandra (Brian) Plaggemars of Newaygo, Michigan; Deb Hofstra of Lewiston; Jarett (Tammy) Hofstra of Lewiston; Eric Hofstra of Lewiston; Jon (Angela) Hofstra of Chelan, Washington; Nick Hofstra of Lewiston; grandchildren, Ashley, Charlie, Kendra, Joshua, Sean, Logan, Jacob, Deklan, Jeremiah, Josiah; great-grandchild, Amethyst; brother, Karl (Mary) Kriesch of Grove, Oklahoma; and sister, Carole Guerin of Baytown, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents, Karl and Mabel (Brainard) Kriesch; husband, Jack Hofstra

There will be a visitation service held in honor of Edith's life from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM on Saturday, January 26, 2019 at Green Funeral Home, Lewiston; Pastor Steven Thiel officiating. A closing prayer will take place at 3:00 PM. There will be a graveside service held in the summer. The time of the graveside service will be decided closer to the date.
