Douglas Gilbert

Douglas William Gilbert Mr. Douglas William Gilbert, 69 of Hillman, Michigan passed away peacefully on the early morning of April 6, 2017 at MidMichigan Medical Center in Alpena. He was born in Flint, Michigan on August 24, 1947 to Jack and Doreen (Robinson) Gilbert. He resided in Hillman for the last 30+ years and worked as a master plumber. He was the co-founder of the Wheels of Northeastern Michigan Car Club and enjoyed working on muscle cars. He was an outdoorsman and enjoyed the time he spent with his family. He will be dearly missed. He is survived by his children, Stephanie (Darwin) Steinke of Hillman; Troy (Tania) Gilbert of Lake Orion; Nicole (Tim Hilborn) Gilbert of Pontiac; Amanda (Brent Slieff) Gilbert of Hillman; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; mother, Doreen Gilbert or Sterling Heights; brother, David (Nancy) Gilbert of Omer; and sister, Diane (Jim) Baroky of Fenton. He was preceded in death by his father, Jack Gilbert. Funeral services for Mr. Gilbert will take place at 2:00PM on Monday, April 10, 2017 at Green Funeral Home; Hillman; Pastor Larry Kirby officiating. Visitation will take place at noon until time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorials have been suggested to the Gilbert family to help with funeral expenses.
