Dorothy Armstrong

September 6, 1928 — June 22, 2022

Lewiston

Mrs. Dorothy Garnett King Armstrong aged 93 years and 9 months, of Lewiston, transitioned to the next life on June 22, 2022. After enduring a short illness, she slipped peacefully into the waters of new life at her home on the lake with family close by. Dorothy, or as she liked to be called in later years, Dorie, was born on September 6, 1928 at her parents’ home on King Road. She was raised there with her siblings, Louise and Walt “Bud” and enjoyed many years there surrounded by a loving, extended family. Dorie was born in the Depression and attended high school during World War II. She graduated from Atlanta High School in 1946 and married, Dennis Armstrong in June of 1948. They lived in Rochester for much of their lives until retirement brought them “back home” to Lewiston in 1984. Retirement found her and Dennis involved in many different clubs in their community. They belonged to the Bethlehem Lutheran Church where they were active in VBS, bible school and other offices. They were also members of the Lewiston Mushroom Club, American Legion Post 198, VFW Post 6335, the Ladies Auxiliary, and the Little Wolf Lake Association. Dorie and Dennis loved to travel, and they visited most all the United States besides Alaska and Florida. They walked the Mackinaw Bridge every year and saved 11 ribbons as proof. Dorie was an avid bowler after retirement bowling until she was 90 years old. She loved to cook and bake and socialize with friends and family. She is and will be deeply missed.

Dorie is survived by many nieces and nephews; great -nieces and great-nephews; and a myriad of friends, both lifelong and new. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dennis; parents, Arthur and Agnes King; sister, Louise; brother, Walt; and many beloved dogs. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Bethlehem Lutheran Church.
