Donald Elwood

Mr. Donald Lee Elwood, 96 of Westland, Michigan, formerly of Troy, died on March 12, 2019 at St. Mary Mercy in Livonia. He was born on December 4, 1922 in Clearwater, Florida to the late, Dewey and Violet (Barber) Elwood. He served his country proudly in the United States Navy. Donald married his wife, Margaret (Ranger) Elwood in 1950 and together the couple celebrated 68 years of marriage before his passing. They owned a cottage in Hillman on Lake Avalon and would visit in the summer and spend their winters in Florida. Donald was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed both hunting and fishing. He will be dearly missed.

He is survived by his loving wife, Margaret Elwood of Westland; daughters, Margaret Roxanne (Mark) Morden of Summerfield, Florida; Donnell Mildred Elwood of Westland; sister, Mildred Eaton of Sun City, Arizona. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dewey and Violet Elwood; and brother, Harley Elwood.

As were his wishes cremation has taken place. There will be a memorial held in celebration of Donald's life at 11:00 AM on Saturday, June 15, 2019 at the Calvary Episcopal Church, Hillman with a luncheon following. Interment of ashes will take place at Hillman Rust Township Cemetery.
