Don Heinbokel Don Eric Heinbokel, 74, of Atlanta, passed away on December 24, 2007 at his residence. He was born on November 6, 1933 to Eric and Margaret (Jones) Heinbokel in Wyandotte, MI. He married the former Theila Ferguson on March 23, 1957 in Hazel Park, MI, celebrating 50 yrs of marriage last year. Don has lived in Atlanta for the past 30 yrs. He worked as a Postman for 16 yrs in Birmingham, MI. Once moving to Atlanta, he held various positions at Briley Twp, including: assessor, supervisor, and sat on the planning commission. He was a member of Big Rock Congregational Church. Don was an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed crossword puzzles and playing cards. He loved to spend time with his family. Don is survived by his wife, Theila of Atlanta, MI; sons, Mark (Diane) of San Antonio, TX, Don of Atlanta, MI, Douglas (Loretta) of Alanson, MI, and David of Dayton, OH; daughter, Dorothy (Dan) Zarske of Herron, MI; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; and two sisters, Joan Harwood and Lois Cumper both of Atlanta. He was preceded in death by a newborn son and a grandson, Dietrich. Funeral services for Mr Heinbokel will be held on Friday, December 28, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at the Big Rock Congregational Church, Pastor Ed Ross officiating. Visitation hours are on Thursday from 4-9 p.m. at the church. Interment will take place at Briley Twp Cemetery, Atlanta, MI. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Heinbokel Family in care of Green Funeral Home, PO Box 201, Atlanta, MI 49709.
