Diane Freida Ward Mrs. Diane Freida Ward, 78 of Hillman, Michigan died peacefully at her residence surrounded by family on the early morning of October 23, 2018. She was born in Detroit, Michigan on August 23, 1940 to the late, Elmer and Elizabeth (Hollenback) Dewey. She married her husband, Richard Ward on December 3, 1977 and together the couple celebrated 34 years of marriage before Richard's passing in 2012. Diane has resided in Hillman for the last 30 years, formerly of Romulus. She retired from Ford Motor Company in 1991 after working in advertising for 28 years. She was a member of the St. John's Lutheran Church as well as the Thunder Bay Basket Guild where was very talented in basket weaving. Diane enjoyed resale shopping and going to lunch with her friends. She had numerous dogs and cats that were a big part of her life and she held a special place in her heart for them. Above everything, Diane enjoyed her time spent with family and friends and will be dearly missed. She is survived by her son, Jeff (Cobie) Ward of Ypsilanti; grandchildren, Kyle, Sarah, and Spencer; brothers, Michael (Gretchen) Dewey of Stuart, Florida; and George Ruff of Jensen Beach, Florida. She was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Elizabeth Dewey; husband, Richard; grandson, Matthew; sister, Sharon Cummings; and brothers, Henry and Kenny Dewey. As were her wishes cremation has taken place. There will be a memorial service held in celebration of her life at 1:00 PM on Friday, November 2, 2018 at St. John's Lutheran Church; Royston, Pastor Jason Mandley officiating. Visitation will take place from noon until time of service.
