Devine Barnes

Mrs. Devine "Vinnie" Joy Barnes, 80 of Atlanta, Michigan died peacefully at her home on April 15, 2019 after a long battle with cancer. She was born in Lake City, Michigan on April 11, 1939 to the late, Leroy and Hazel (Henry) Bergey. Vinnie worked in the restaurant business as both a waitress and a dishwasher. She loved country and polka music, gardening, fishing, playing card games, and watching car races. Most importantly, Vinnie enjoyed spending time with her family. She will be dearly missed.

She is survived by her children, Cynthia Barnes of Atlanta; Douglas Barnes of Atlanta; Loretta (Doug) Heinbokel of Alanson; 19 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and her beloved kitty, Mort. She was preceded in death by her parents, Leroy and Hazel Bergey; husband, John Benjamin Barnes; son, Jerry Lee Barnes; and two daughters, Deborah Kay Kamen and Lois Ann Heinbokel.

As were her wishes cremation has taken place and there will be a celebration of life held for Vinnie at 2:00PM on May 11, 2019 at Briley Township Park, Atlanta.
