David Gorter

Mr. David Alan Gorter, 55 of Lewiston, Michigan died suddenly on July 22, 2021 at his home. He was born on September 30, 1965 to Edwin and Kathleen (Smid) Gorter in Paterson, New Jersey. He married his wife, Delores (Merkle) Gorter on May 26, 2001 and together the couple celebrated 20 years of marriage before his passing. Formerly of Rapid City, they have resided in Lewiston since 2011. David was a member of the Assembly of God Church in New Jersey. He enjoyed music, singing, farming, gardening, and loved animals of all kinds. He also spent a lot of his time reading his bible. David will be deeply missed.

He is survived by his loving wife, Delores Gorter of Lewiston; mother, Kathleen Gorter of North Haeldon, New Jersey; siblings, Edwin (Wendy) Gorter of Midland Park, New Jersey; Ronald (Barb) Gorter; Nancy (Lance) Kraai; Steve (Laura) Gorter all of North Haeldon, New Jersey; Sandy (Chris) Duffy of Stockholm, New Jersey; numerous nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews; and numerous aunts and uncles. He was preceded in death by his father, Edwin.

Funeral services for Mr. Gorter will take place at noon on Tuesday, July 27, 2021 at Green Funeral Home, Lewiston. Visitation will take place from 10:00 AM until time of service. Interment will follow at Albert Township Cemetery, Lewiston where David will be laid to rest.
