Daniel Neal Metzger Mr. Daniel Neal Metzger, 75 of Atlanta, MI passed away at Back Home Adult Foster Care Home in Alpena on January 12, 2012. He was born on February 10, 1936 in Flat Rock, MI to Merle and Dorothy (Ray) Metzger. He served his country in the United States Army during Vietnam and later retired. He moved to Atlanta in 1961 and helped to start the first township ambulance service in Atlanta along with Bob Paul. He was a lifetime member of the VFW Post in Atlanta. In his younger years, he enjoyed hunting and trapping. He was an avid gardener and liked to be outdoors fishing and mushroom picking. Above all, he enjoyed his time spent with family and friends. He is survived by his wife, Ginette Metzger of Atlanta, MI; daughters, Danette Sivley of Flat Rock; Betty (Rick) McNall of Fife Lake; Diana (Phil) Licht of Atlanta; Claudette (Chris) Moss of Atlanta; sons, Richard (Bessie) Metzger of Dolton, AL; Gary Metzger of Detroit; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; and sister, Peggy Mitchell of Rockwood. He was preceded in death by his brother, Bob Griffin and grandson, Phillip Licht Jr. Funeral services for Mr. Metzger were held on January 16, 2012 at the Green Funeral Home, Atlanta, MI.
