Dalthea Gail Black Mrs. Dalthea Gail Black, 79 of Atlanta, Michigan died peacefully on the early afternoon of November 18, 2015 surrounded by her loving children at Aspen Ridge Retirement Village in Gaylord. She was born to the late, Albert and Mary (King) Double on September 27, 1936 in Vienna Township, Michigan. She graduated from Central Michigan University suma cum laude with her Bachelor's degree in education. She then went on to receive her Master's degree from the University of Dayton in education. Dalthea taught school for more than 30 years mostly teaching the 3rd grade. She was born and raised in Vienna, worked in Ohio, and returned to Gaylanta Lake where she lived for the last 20 years. She was a member of the Eastern Star in Gaylord and the Historical Society in Lewiston. Dalthea was a lover of nature and enjoyed bird watching, flowers, and gardening. When she wasn't outdoors she enjoyed reading, doing cryptograms and crossword puzzles. Above everything she did, her love for family was evident and she enjoyed the time spent with them. She will be dearly missed. She is survived by sons, Gregg Black of Atlanta; Steven (Mimi) Black of Pleasanton, California; daughter, Kim (Mark) McCleary of White Lake; grandchildren; Ryan, Scott, Kyra, Evan; great-granddaughter, Adelena; and sister, Marilyn Kuechenmeister of Higgins Lake. She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Mary Double; stepfather, Michael Kasky; and husband, Arnold. As were her wishes, a private graveside service was held on Friday, November 20, 2015 at Albert Township Cemetery; Pastor Roger Steele officiating.
